1 Boxed brownie mix
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup heavy cream
6 tablespoons butter
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
kosher salt
Make the brownies according the directions on the box. Cool completely.
Mix the powdered sugar and nuts and set aside.
In medium saucepan, mix cream, butter and brown sugar.
Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until mixture comes to a low boil.
Continue cooking 1 minute, stirring constantly.
Turn off the heat. Stir in the vanilla, pecans, and powdered sugar.
Let sit for 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
Spread frosting over brownies.
Sprinkle very lightly with salt. (Omit this step if your nuts are heavily salted).
Allow to stand 30 to 45 minutes, or until frosting is set.
Dipping the knife in hot water between slices will make them easier to cut.
*You can substitute other nuts for the pecans or leave them out if there are nut allergies.
